Friday was strong positive day for our markets.  Harvest corn closed up 9 1/4, harvest soybeans closed up 20 3/4, harvest winter wheat closed up 16 3/4 and harvest spring wheat closed up 11 3/4.  In the overnight trade corn and soybeans are mixed with the wheat sector now negative.  Oil closed up $1.43 on Friday at $61.50 per barrel.  It is stronger in trading again this morning with it now valued at $62.50 per barrel.  Our dollar traded between a low of $0.715 US and a high of $0.722 US on Friday with it closing out at $0.721 US.  With some choppy trading in the overnight session our dollar is currently valued at $0.722 US.

Last week was a positive week for our markets.  Spot corn closed up $12 per tonne, harvest 2025 up $7 per tonne and harvest 2026 up $6 per tonne.  Soybeans were the strongest with the spot market up $26 per tonne, this year’s harvest up $14 per tonne and next year up $9 per tonne.  Spring wheat was up $11 per tonne on the spot market and $10 per tonne for this year’s harvest.  Winter wheat was up $9 per tonne across the board.

Soybeans led our markets higher last week and have now gained back much more than the loss they occurred when the reciprocal tariffs where announced.  The $10 per bushel mark is once again in the rear view mirror.  May soybeans on the CBOT closed right at the 100 day moving average on Friday which is a very strong technical sign for this market.

Corn futures closed higher each of the 5 trading days last week.  They have now gained back over half of the loss they experienced when the markets went negative near the near the end of February.  The supportive reduced carry out stocks number released by the USDA on Thursday and the 90 day extension of the reciprocal tariffs announced on Wednesday both supported this market.
