With the change in our email and website server we have heard some customers are having trouble seeing our price matrix.  If you are please call us and we will endeavour to get it working for you.  Sorry for any inconvenience our recent changes may have caused you.

Tuesday was a mostly positive day for our markets.  Harvest corn closed up 6 1/2, harvest soybeans closed up 6 1/4, harvest winter wheat closed up 2 1/2 and harvest spring wheat closed down 3 3/4.  In the overnight trade all of our markets are on the negative side.  Oil closed down $3.35 yesterday at $79.26 per barrel.  It is stronger in trading this morning with it now priced at $83.23.  Over the last 24 hours our dollar has traded between a low of $0.708 US and a high of $0.710 US.  This morning it is right in the middle of the range with it currently valued at $0.709 US.

The corn market rebounded some yesterday with the market rewarding the largest weekly drop (4%) in the corn good to excellent rating in over 20 years.  I would have thought that this large drop would have brought a stronger reaction from the marketplace but positive is positive and is much better then another negative day like on Monday.  There is talk coming out of the US that the average corn yield could decrease to the 180 bushels per acre.  The starting point this year was as high as 188 bushels per acre for many analysts.  We should note that new crop corn prices on the CBOT ended yesterday above all of their 20, 50 and 100 day moving averages.

After being hammered on Monday soybean prices also closed yesterday on the positive side.  This crop also had a large decrease (3%) in its good to excellent rating and this helped to bring soybeans back positive.  Soybean oil prices are directly affected with changes in the crude oil market and as such how the market reacts to changes in the cease fire talks between the US and Iran are highly watched.

More uncertainty in shipments out of the Black Sea continues to provide support for the wheat market.  It seems that the marketplace is trading like the highs are in for this market with less price reactions coming from any of the recent announcements.

For all of our markets prices for this year’s harvest are still at the higher end.  If you would like to talk about your current marketing situation on your farm give us a call anytime.  This is also a great time to put some target orders in that could reward the market if we see some positive price spikes.
