Friday was a mostly negative day for our markets. Harvest corn closed down 3, harvest soybeans closed unchanged, harvest winter wheat closed down 6 1/2 and harvest spring wheat closed down 5 1/2.  In the overnight trade corn is positive with soybeans and the wheat sector negative. Oil closed down $2.04 Friday at $67.22 per barrel. It is weaker in trading again this morning with it now valued at $66.01 per barrel.  Our dollar had a high yesterday of $0.726 US and a low of $0.724 US in the overnight trade. It has bounced back up slightly this morning with it currently valued at $0.726 US.

Friday was a quiet trading session for the first day of the month. The big news for the end of the week was the arrival of the August 1^st tariff deadline, which the Trump administration then announced they would give seven more days of grace before the tariffs will be put in place on numerous trading partners. It’s still unclear what affect the tariffs will have on the Ag industry.

Soybeans had some short gains through the day on Friday but closed back at even to end the day. Soybean oil is being heavily affected by the oil markets which saw some big losses last week with the upcoming tariff pressure.

Corn remains bearish with the favourable weather forecasts throughout the states. So far following a similar pattern to last year’s trade, knocking on new lows coming closer to the harvest period.
