Our Annual Customer Appreciation Day is less then 1 week away.  Wednesday, June 25, 2025.  Mark your calendar.

Our markets were closed yesterday for the Juneteenth Holiday in the US.  Wednesday was a positive day for our markets.  Harvest corn closed up 5 1/4, harvest soybeans closed up 1/2, harvest winter wheat closed up 25 1/4 and harvest spring wheat closed up 17 1/4.  In the overnight trade corn and soybeans are positive with the wheat sector on the negative side.  Oil closed up $0.23 on Wednesday at $73.50 per barrel.  It is stronger in trading again this morning with it now valued at $73.87 per barrel.  Over the last 24 hours our dollar had a low yesterday morning before noon of $0.728 US and a high late in the day of $0.731 US.  It has pulled back in the overnight trade with it currently valued this morning at $0.729 US.

Soybean futures are rallying this morning as soybean oil is trading positive again.  Remember it was limit up in trading for two days after the EPA in the US announced the new increased biodiesel blending targets for next year.  How much strength this can bring to soybean prices going forward is yet to be seen.

Although the corn market is also positive this morning there is talk that the final acres planted in the US may come in as high as 96 million acres.  With the current favourable growing conditions the US farmer could be looking at a record yield this yield.  This would continue the supply side of the market dominating after the strong crop harvested in Brazil and what is turning into a larger than expected crop currently being harvested in Argentina.

Friday’s thought: When you overthink remember that worrying does not take away tomorrow’s troubles, it takes away today’s peace!

If you would like to talk about the markets or price some of your crop for the future or in store, please reach out to us via phone or email to info@northgowergrains.com. Prices quoted herein are for product at our elevator.
