As an added step to our Customer Service we have started to email a summary each day at 10 pm with all your inbound tickets from the day.  Customers who shipped wheat over the weekend should have received this email.  If you have any questions please give us a call.

Friday was a nice positive day for our markets.  Harvest corn closed up 11 1/4, harvest soybeans closed up 10 1/4, harvest winter wheat closed up 22 and harvest spring wheat closed up 9.  In the overnight trade corn and soybeans are still positive with the wheat sector now negative.  Oil closed up $1.15 on Friday at $82.30 per barrel.  It is stronger in trading again this morning with it now priced at $82.91.  Our dollar traded between a low of $0.718 US and a high of $0.721 US on Friday with it closing out at the high end of the range.  It is higher again this morning with it currently valued at $0.722C US.

All the positive news for the precipitation in the US Corn Belt has now turned negative.  Excessive rain over the last week has led to localized flooding with reports up to 11 inches of rain in a County in Central Illinois.  This flooding will result in decreased yields and crop ratings going forward.  With these reports you would expect to see the corn and soybean markets stronger this morning then they are.  How the markets react going forward will most likely depend on how the USDA reacts to the flooding.

The Pro Farmers Crop Tour begins today in the US.  They will sample over 2,000 corn and soybean fields across seven states.  The data they release will be closely watched by market analysts and will most definitely be compared to the latest USDA reports.

The potential ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine has not taken place.  This would have restricted bombings from civilian targets which currently are including vessels shipping grains out of both countries.  The markets are not really rallying on this news as it continues to seem that the wheat market just will not currently rally much higher even with major concerns on reduced shipping this year out of the Black Sea region.

Last week was a positive week for our markets.  Corn was up $8 per tonne for both the spot market and this year’s harvest.  For harvest 2027 corn was up $4 per tonne.  Spot soybeans were up $6 per tonne with this year’s harvest up $11 per tonne and next year’s harvest up $4 per tonne.  Winter wheat was up $13 per tonne for the current harvest and $10 per tonne for harvest 2027.  Spring wheat was even for this year’s harvest and was up $6 per tonne for next year’s harvest.
