Elevator hours are 7 am to 5 pm this week.  Please call ahead if you would like to dump after hours.

Monday was a negative day for our markets.  Spot corn closed down 2 3/4, spot soybeans closed down 9 3/4, spot winter wheat closed down 3 1/2 and spot spring wheat closed down 2.  In the overnight trade soybeans are positive, spring wheat is mixed with corn and winter wheat still on the negative side.  Oil closed up $0.35 yesterday at $59.00 per barrel.  It is stronger in trading again this morning with it now valued at $59.29 per barrel.  Our dollar had a high yesterday morning before noon of $0.716 US and has traded lower since then.  This morning it is currently valued at $0.714 US.

Prices pulled back yesterday with no real positive news in any of our markets for traders to grab a hold of.  No new soybean sales were made to China and no new rumours about any major sales were talked about either.  It is nice to see soybeans back on the positive this morning.

For the corn market on negative days analysts say the record large crop in the US is weighing down prices.  On positive days they will talk about the strong pace of exports and thoughts that the yield numbers are overstated by the USDA.  Unfortunately yesterday and this morning the negative side is winning the battle.

There is starting to be more focus on the weather in Brazil for their crop that is just getting planted.  It is a bit dry however rain is in the forecast for much of their growing regions.  Currently it is not a major concern but it could become one and it is something that we will keep our eye upon.

The USDA has finished publishing the weekly Crop Progress Report.  We should just assume that the corn harvest is almost complete in the US much like it is in our area.

If you would like to talk about the markets or price some of your crop for the future or in store, please reach out to us via phone or email to info@northgowergrains.com. Prices quoted herein are for product at our elevator.
